The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has recently announced that its Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will be featured during the professional elimination rounds at all Nitro Jam events in 2010.
Since the 1970s, the IHRA and Sportsman Drag Racing have worked together and in 2010 the relationship will come into fruition in 2010 as the IHRA will try to give back to its roots and placing its fastest sportsman classes at the stage they deserve.
Nitro Jam will showcase the first round of the main event eliminations during the professional rounds on the first round of the main event eliminations during the professional rounds on the first event day. The organizers have also created an “Elite 8” program for the top qualifiers in each of the classes, which will take place during the second day of the event.
“Figuring out who has the quickest car in their class is what drivers live for. Bracket racing is fun and provides a level playing field for everyone, but there is just something magical about letting these competitors take the gloves off to see who has the baddest car on the property,” explained Skooter Peaco, VP of Race Operations. “It is interesting that, even with the many changes that have been made over the past year, we would take a page out of the IHRA history books.”
